Mr. Murphy graduated from Neumann University in 2012 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and briefly worked with Delaware County Juvenile Court and Probation Services in Media, PA.  Through volunteering and coaching Mr. Murphy decided that a career in working with children and teens in school was an absolute necessity.  Previously he worked with the Brick Recreation Department, where he was responsible for organizing youth sports programs and community events while also working towards his Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Kean University, graduating in 2020.  Outside of work, Mr. Murphy coaches youth and high school ice hockey, enjoys spending as much time as possible with his wife and three children and loves being outside anywhere near the saltwater!  Mr. Murphy is extremely excited to be a part of Barkalow and looks forward to meeting more fantastic young people every day!

 Who are we?

As school counselors, Ms. Colford and Mr. Murphy assist students, teachers, and parents with strategies that lead to academic, emotional and social success. Help is available when you need it!
From time to time we will meet with students to discuss a number of issues such as academics, course selection, personal matters, test results, study skills, or plans for the future. One common goal is that we see each Barkalow student graduate after a rich and rewarding middle school career!
