Schoology

Dear Parents,

Teachers at Barkalow will be utilizing Schoology.  Schoology is a secure learning network for teachers, students, and parents.  It provides a safe way to connect, share content, access homework, participate in discussions, and receive class information.  Schoology will enhance the learning experience and help students develop important online skills. Through Schoology students can accomplish the following:

• Participate in class or group discussions that are monitored by the teacher (students cannot send private messages to other students)
• Communicate directly with the teacher to ask questions and get help with work
• Keep track of important due dates, events, and tasks
• Receive and turn in assignments and quizzes
• View missed work when absent from class

In order to make sure that you are up-to-date on everything your child is completing in class, it is imperative you register for parent access to Schoology. This will give you the most current information on your child’s performance on homework, classwork, and upcoming assignments as well as provide insight  into each of your child’s classes.  If you already have a schoology account, you will not need to register again.   You will just need to enter your child’s code.

The Gradebook in Schoology pertains only to Schoology Assignments, your child’s official grade is still the one that is found in Genesis.

In order to register for a parent account, please follow these steps:

1. Navigate to www.schoology.com. The home page should appear  like this:

2. Click the “Sign up” button in the top right corner, then click “Parent”

3.  Enter the  access code.  You can find the access code in Genesis on the summary screen below your student’s picture. Please note the access code is unique to your child.  Do not use an access code from another parent.  Also, access codes are case sensitive.
